Canada invites 746 candidates in new PNP draw…
Canada has always been one of those countries which values talent. Let it be international students or workers, the country has been valuing immigrants and that is why, lakhs of individuals from different countries immigrate to Canada every year in search of a good life.
Recently, Canada invited 746 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence. But, before jumping into detail, let us find out what Express Entry is. Express entry in Canada is the application management system for the country’s 3 main immigration programs namely
- The Canadian Experience Class
- The Federal Skilled Worker Program
- The Federal Skilled Trades Program
Express Entry uses a points- based system, the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to rank candidate’s profiles. The top-scoring candidates receive an invitation to apply known as ITA and then they are eligible to apply for permanent residency. Now, as we have some information about what Express Entry is, let’s get into detail.
It’s been almost an year since Canada held an Express Entry draw that includes candidates from all programs. IRCC hasn’t invited any candidate since December 23,2020. Throughout 2021, the countryhas only held draws that target candidates either from the PNP i.e. Provincial Nominee Program or from CEC i.e. Canadian Experience Class.
The strategy was opted so that the candidates who were likely to be already residing in the country could be given the status of permanent residents. The candidates who were applying for Canadian immigration from abroad were not allowed to cross the border for the purpose of activating their permanent residency status until June.
However, there was a drawback of this step. This step created a large backlog of candidates who wished to apply for permanent residency from outside the country.m A few weeks back, while announcing a new program, the Immigration Minister, Sean Fraser said that Canada will move back to admitting a mix of immigrants from both in Canada and abroad.
Currently, the invited candidates had previously received a nomination through a Provincial Nominee Program which automatically added 600 points to their base human capital score. In this draw, the minimum cut-off score for this draw was 720. It is to be known that the cut-off scores have remained relatively high as IRCC has only been holding PNP draws. Due to their high scores, the PNP candidates in the Express Entry pool are effectively guaranteed to receive at least an invitation letter to apply for permanent residence. Since the last few PNP draws, the highest cut-off score recorded was of 764 and the lowest was 685..
It can be said without any hesitation that the country wants skilled and experienced individuals which can turn out to be beneficial for it’s economy. It can be said that IRCC will be conducting such draws once within few days. If you are experienced enough and have a skill that can help you land in Canada then there’s no harm in trying once…
