Australian Government Scholarships

Below are the major Australian Government Scholarships that are available for international students:

1. Australia Awards

Australia Awards Scholarships are administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Their aim is to contribute to the development needs of Australia’s partner countries especially those countries that are located in the Indo-Pacific region , to undertake full time undergraduate or postgraduate study at participating Australian universities and Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions.

 CONDITIONS: Applicants who want to accept an Australia Awards Scholarship will need to sign a contract with the Commonwealth of Australia declaring that they will obey the conditions of the scholarship. Scholars are required to leave Australia for a minimum of 2 years after completing their scholarship. Failure to do so will result in the scholar incurring a debt for the total accrued cost of their scholarship.

2. Research Training Program (RTP)

Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarships are intended to support domestic and international students undertaking research master’s degrees and research doctorate degrees. It is valid for 42 prominent Australian universities and covers international tuition fees and a stipend.

3. Destination Australia

It is the Australian Government’s new mobility program for domestic and international students to study in regional Australia. The Destination Australia Program was first announced as part of the Australian Government’s Planning for Australia’s Future Population on 20 March 2019.

  Over 1000 scholarships will be available each year to support both domestic and international students studying at regional campus locations. Australian tertiary institutions will be able to apply for scholarships of up to $15,000 per student, per year.

4. Australia APEC Women in Research Fellowship

This fellowship provides financial help to highly-accomplished female researchers, who come from developing economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). Its aim is to support women’s economic empowerment in the APEC region and raise the profile of female role models in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
