Canada holds first Express Entry draw of 2022…

IRCC i.e. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada held the very first draw of the year 2022 in the first week of January which invited 392 PNP candidates.

IRCC,  which  is  responsible  for the immigration of refugees and immigrants in Canada regularly holds draws to invite candidates from different backgrounds for Canadian permanent residency. Many of them are skilled workers and labourers who are thought to be beneficial for the country’s economy and growth. The Express Entry draws held by IRCC invites different categories of candidates. It’s like one draw will  invite  skilled  workers  and labourers and the next one will invite PNP candidates. However, there is no such transparency by IRCC as of which draw will invite what category of candidates. The recent draw held by the IRCC invited 392 PNP candidates. Skilled workers and labourers were not invited in this draw. The minimum CRS( Comprehensive Ranking System) score cut off was 808.The cut off score in PNP draws is always a bit more than that of other draws as PNP candidates receive 600 points the moment they get their PNP approved.

Lately, IRCC has been focusing on PNP candidates as immigration officers are processing a backlog in Express Entry applications. The immigration department wants to cut Express Entry backlog in at least half before inviting candidates from other backgrounds. That is why, in 2021, there was no Express Entry draw that invited Federal Skilled Worker Program candidate. This was first time in the history of Express Entry draws that something like this had happened.

The  mandate  letter  issued  by the Mr. Justin Trudeau has clearly stated that IRCC should come up with new immigration programs and hold draws within short intervals so that individuals from various categories can land in Canada. Also, one more thing that has been mentioned in the letter is that the NOC codes will be replaced by TEERS which itself is a great news as NOC was divided into 5 categories which further diversified professions under these 5 categories but in case of TEERS , it is being said that there will be 6 TEERS which means there will be one more category to specify professions. This will increase the number of professions to be considered for the Canadian permanent residency.

It seems that the country’s immigration department is fully prepared to welcome new immigrants as the target has been increased to 4,11,000. This number means that 4,11,000 people will get the permanent residency. It is also been speculated that this year, Express Entry draws for skilled workers and labourers will be held so that the labour shortages can be tackled.

Moreover, a lot if international students will also be granted the permanent residency as Mr. Trudeau mentioned it in the letter that international students should also be given utmost importance. This year will turn out to be a great year for the Canadian immigration as the start has been a great one..
