The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a drastic loss of human life globally and presents an unrivalled challenge to public health, food systems and the world of work. The economic and social disruption caused by the pandemic is devastating and breath-taking: tens of millions of people are at risk of falling into extreme poverty, while the number of undernourished people, currently estimated at nearly 690 million, could increase by up to 132 million by the end of the year.

Corona Virus outbreak has resulted in a downward spiral in the world economy and has caused a huge impact on the higher education system. The pandemic has exposed the shortcomings of the current higher education system and the need for more training of educators in digital technology to adapt to the rapidly changing education climate of the world. In the post-pandemic situation, the use of eLearning and virtual education may become an integral part of the higher education system. The higher education institutions and universities need to plan the post-pandemic education and research strategies to ensure student learning outcomes and standards of educational quality.
