Latest update from IRCC regarding online classes for international students…

There is no lie in saying that Canada has always been one of the preferred destinations to study by a majority of Indian students. The mode of education, the healthyenvironment, enormous work opportunities after studies and stable lifestyle is what attracts a majority of aspirants from India to Canada. Every year, about lakhs od students migrate to different provinces of Canada. The same was supposed to happen in the year 2020. Lakhs of students had planned to immigrate to Canada for their higher studies but then suddenly out of  nowhere,COVID emerged. Every country closed it’s international borders and imposed flight ban on international keeping in mind the safety of the residents. The same step was taken by the Canadian government. But this uncertainty caused problems for international students. Students from India who had got their Visa were not allowed to  land  in  Canada.  Addressing this issue, the Canadian government announced that international students will be attending online classes till the time situation gets under control. Also, this education will be considered for Work Permit after the completion of studies. Students were relieved and started attending online classes.

Now, last week, there was a big update  from  IRCC  that  stated

that  any  international  student

attending online classes outside Canada after December 31st will not be considered for Work Permit. This news lead to a lot of tension and anxiety amongst students. This was because currently, the visa processing times have increased as there is a lot of burden on the Canadian embassy. So many students who have applied recently haven’t received their Visa’s yet and  their  classes  will  begin  in January.

But recently, IRCC has given a major update in this context that the deadline they had put i.e. 31st December is now extended to 31st August 2022. This decision is taken reviewing the current situation and has been a relief for international students especially in India as  a majority of international students are Indians.

Now students need not worry if they haven’t got their visa yet. They can start attending online classes and when they receive their visa, they can fly to Canada and start attending their rest of the classes there…
