WHAT IS IELTS?
IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System. It is an English language proficiency test developed and run by the British Council in collaboration with IDP Education and Cambridge Assessment English. It is trusted by more than 12000 organizations in over 140 countries around the globe. Governments in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom all trust IELTS when processing immigration applications.
There are four modules in IELTS.
LISTENING | This section assesses how well you understand the ideas, recognize opinions and follow the development of an argument. |
READING | This section assesses how well you read for general sense, main ideas and details, and whether you understand the author’s inferences and opinions. |
WRITING | In this module the examiner mainly focus how well you organize your ideas and write a response, along with your ability to use wide – ranging vocabulary and grammar. |
SPEAKING | In this section examiner concentrates on your communication skills i.e. how well you can communicate opinions and information on everyday topics and common experiences, as well as how you express and justify your opinions. |

ACADEMIC GENERAL TRAINING

ACADEMIC MODULE
You can choose this if you wish to study at undergraduate or postgraduate levels, or if you are seeking professional registration, e.g. doctors and nurses.

Academic Reading Exam
In this paper, texts come from books, journals, magazines and online resources, written for a non-specialist audience. All the topics are of general interest to students at undergraduate or postgraduate level.

Academic Listening exam
This module has four parts, with ten questions in each part. The questions are in the same order as the information in the recording, so answer to the first question, will be before the answer to the second question and so on. Part 1 and 2 deal with everyday social situations whereas 3 and 4 deal with educational and training condition.

Academic Writing paper
There are two writing tasks and both must be completed in the duration of one hour.
In task 1 you have to describe some visual information in your own words. You need to write at least 150 words in about 20 minutes. In task 2, you are given a point of view, argument or problem which you need to discuss. Here, you have to write minimum 250 words.

Academic Speaking paper
The speaking test is a face to face interview between the candidate and an examiner. The speaking test is recorded. There are three parts to the test.
Part 1 consists of Introduction and interview
Part 2 consists of long run which is called a cue card.
Part 3 is based on discussions and candidates are asked follow ups.

You can choose this if you wish to migrate to an English speaking country, (e.g. Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and UK) or if you wish to study at below degree level.

GT Reading paper
There are three sections of increasing difficulty. Section one may contain two or three shorter texts. Section 2 contains two texts. In section 3, there is one long text.
Section 1 deals with every day topics.
Section 2 deals with work topics.
Section 3 focuses on more longer and complex texts.

GT Speaking test
The speaking test is a face to face interview between the candidate and examiner. The speaking test is recorded.
There are three parts to the test and each part follows a specific pattern of tasks in order to test your speaking abilities in different ways.
Part 1 includes Introduction and interview questions
Part 2 consists of Long term and candidate will be asked to speak on a topic for about 1-2 minutes.
Part 3 is a discussion part and candidate has to answer the follow ups.
